Your Hot Tub Base must be laid onto a surface which is hard and level. This will ensure that over time your Hot Tub Base does not subside or move causing damage to the ground and your hot tub.
Providing that your ground conditions are well compacted and level, your Base may be installed onto the exsisting area, however we highly recommend the following the installation instructions below.
Preparing the ground ready for installation;
1 - Identify the location of your new Hot Tub Base.
2 - Measure out and mark the area where you will be installing your base.
3 - Remove the existing turf from the area as well as the subsoil to a suitable depth to allow the Hot Tub Base to be installed. Digging to a depth of 80mm will allow for the surface of the base to be flush with the existing grassed or turf area.
4 - Into the excavated area,lay a bedding layer approximately 30mm deep of a 5-20mm diameter angular gravel or crushed aggregate and compact down well ensuring that the surface is hard and level.
5 - On to the hardcore, lay a suitable permeable membrane and secure with membrane staples. The membrane will ensure that weeds do not grow through the open structure of the base, preventing future damage.
5 - With the membrane secured, if required level the area with a sharp sand.
Installing your Hot Tub Base;
1 - Your base will arrive in boxes, packed with layers of 4 individual panels connected together making an area of approximately 66 x 66cms. 5 Large panels equals 20 individual panels.
2 - The larger panels can be disconnected if needed and each panel connects together by clicking the panels into place using the slot and peg system.
3 - Starting in 1 corner, place the first base panel onto the flat level surface you have prepared, clicking the panels together as you move away from the corners to create your required area.
4 - When the base has been laid, fill with a suitable angular gravel or pea shingle, this will create a solid surface to place you Hot Tub onto. The Hot Tub Base is 40mm deep and requires approximately 8 kgs of gravel per panel.
5 - Backfill around the edges of the base between the existing grassed areas of the newly laid base with a 60:40 sand/soil or compost zone blend and seed to help your new Hot Tub Base blend into the existing area.
6 - Your base is ready to go! You can install your new Hot Tub directly onto the base and start using it straight away.
